Dr. Melanie Sumney
Dr. Sumney, a Lawrence County native, attended Laurel Schools, went to Saint Vincent College, then Penn. She graduated in 1996. After graduating she worked in a busy multi-doctor practice in Austintown, Ohio before purchasing the practice from Dr. Raught in June 2006. She enjoys getting to know and making a difference in the lives of you and your four-legged family members every day. Her interests include all aspects of general small animal practice from medicine to surgery, behavior and dentistry. Dr. Sumney shares her home with a Hound-a-Doodle-Pippy, a Pomeranian-Frannie, a striking calico cat-Miss Bessie Black Nose, a white cat named Mr. Blizzard, aka-White Menace. She also has 3 children-2 daughters and a son and her husband, which she says is like having 3 more kids! When Dr. Sumney is not in the office she enjoys cooking/baking, shopping, reading, vacationing at the beach and spending time with her family. With 3 young children, they frequent Marti Park for soccer and other school events.
Dr. Stephanie Kish
Dr. Kish graduated from Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee in 2018. There, she was the 2017 recipient of the small animal surgery award and received certification for practicing rural veterinary medicine.
She is from the New Wilmington area where she graduated from Wilmington High School. She then went on to attend Slippery Rock University where she graduated with honors with a Biochemistry degree and Biology minor. After growing up in this area, she is super excited about coming back home to care for and build relationships with our clients and their beloved pets.
Her interests include all aspects of small animal general practice but mostly general and preventative medicine, dermatology and surgery.
In her free time, Dr. Kish enjoys spending time with her two dogs, both mixed breed rescues, Midnight and Nora, and a rescue cat named Cider. She also loves spending time with her family and friends. She likes traveling, reading, exercising and doing just about any outdoor activities including walking her dogs, water sports and gardening.
